The AVO Club
The Ford AVO Owners Club was formed at the end of 1980 with the objective of bringing together owners and enthusiasts of the special range of vehicles produced until 1975 by Ford Motor Company’s ‘Advanced Vehicle Operations’ (AVO) at Aveley in Essex.

Cars that the club caters for are the Mk1 versions of the:
• Escort RS1600
• Escort Twin Cam
• Escort Mexico
• Escort RS2000
• Escort 1300E
• Capri RS
Each of these models is represented by a Club Registrar, who is able to provide knowledge and advice to club members, as well as provide valuations based on current market values.
Members of the AVO Club receive a quarterly magazine called Havoc, which has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Car Club Magazine of the Year’ award. Havoc details all that is going on in the AVO world which ranges from restoration updates, informative ‘How To’ articles, events reports, registrar updates, and much more. Havoc also contains details of exclusive discounts that are available to members, which many members make use of.

The club provides an internet forum for members to chat and ask technical questions about AVO cars, and also maintains a popular Facebook group.

Each summer the club holds its main event of the year (National Day), which is held at Hatton Country World near Warwick. Club Spares attends with the full range of spares available plus, many specialist traders attend with all their wares. We also hold our annual prize giving during National Day where members vote on their favourite cars. Discounted entry to Hatton World is available, so there is something for everyone at AVO National Day.

Members still use their AVO cars in competition today !
As well as outdoor shows, the club also attends prestigious indoor shows such as The Classic Motor show at the NEC in Birmingham.
Although the majority of the club’s members live in the British Isles, there are overseas members in most European countries, The Far East, Australia, New Zealand and USA. Overseas Members are particularly welcome.
